Recognition & Credits

Recognition and credit transfer practices at higher education institutions take into account competencies, qualifications and achievements already acquired by students and prospective students. In this way, academic achievements, semesters abroad or professional qualifications can be credited or recognised. What has already been achieved thus benefits the study programme.

Recognition

Recognition refers to competencies, qualifications and achievements that you have gained at higher education institutions and should be recognised with the aim of continuing your studies in another degree programme or at another higher education institution.

If you wish to have competencies, qualifications or achievements recognised, you must submit a corresponding application to your higher education institution.

At higher education institutions, the recognition procedures are regulated in the examination regulations. Find out about the relevant regulations and deadlines in good time from the student advisory services or recognition officer at your higher education institution.

Further information on the topic of recognition can be found on the information page (available only in German)

Credits

Credits refer to knowledge and skills acquired outside higher education. Competencies acquired outside of higher education are credited individually, as a group or in a combination of both procedures.

At the higher education institutions, the credit transfer procedures are regulated in the examination regulations. Find out about the relevant regulations and deadlines in good time from the student advisory services or credit transfer officer at your higher education institution.
