Higher education entrance qualifications

If you wish to study at a higher education institution in Germany, you must prove that your educational background or professional qualifications entitle you to do so – i.e. you have the necessary entrance qualifications. If you do not have academic entrance qualifications but would still like to study without an Abitur, entry may be possible based on the regulations for applicants with professional qualifications. For degree programmes in the arts, outstanding artistic abilities may substitute the higher education entrance qualification; this needs to be demonstrated in the aptitude assessment.
