Annotation of the Higher Education Institution
The Master’s degree course "Environmental Systems and Resource Management" focuses on environmental issues, which are analysed and addressed using a systems-based approach. The degree programme offers a wide range of methods for addressing issues across disciplines, analysing the dynamics of complex systems and identifying solutions, whereby natural and social science approaches complement one another. Mathematical and computer-aided methods are used for quantitative modelling. A key feature of the course is the opportunity for direct participation in environmentally relevant research projects.
The Master’s degree offers very good career prospects in business, public authorities and associations. The interdisciplinary programme prepares students for careers in project management, in management consulting, in political consulting or in the area of environmental management in the context of environmental aspects and/or the analysis of complex systems in other areas such as transport, the economy or society.
With the expertise they acquire, graduates can, for example, contribute to solutions to important issues such as addressing the consequences of climate change or biodiversity loss, the sustainable development of socio-ecological systems or shaping the transformation of agricultural systems. This includes areas such as environmental protection, landscape planning, planning of adaptation strategies and transformation processes, strategy development (e.g. energy systems), risk analyses and risk assessment (e.g. of chemicals or financial products) and traffic and logistics planning.
