  • Field of study
    • Target group The Master’s in Cognitive Science is an interdisciplinary course that provides in-depth and practical insights into different areas of our thinking and actions with subjects such as cognitive computer science, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive psychology, linguistics and philosophy. Teaching concept and course contents The aim of the Master’s programme is to consolidate various methodological and content-based aspects of cognitive science. The course prepares for professional practice in cognitive science and related (sub)disciplines and trains for interdisciplinary work as well as the effective exchange of knowledge and expertise across traditional subject boundaries. Through the option of individual specialisation and collaboration in cognitive science research within the framework of research internships, complex research methods can be learned and applied directly. The Master’s degree thus qualifies both for a postgraduate degree (doctorate) and an academic career as well as for interdisciplinary key positions in various professions. This courses requires a clear interest in current research questions of cognitive science such as questions of perception, motor skills, learning, memory, problem solving, thinking and language as well as an interest in the application of cognitive science knowledge. Good English language skills as well as sufficient background knowledge in the core subjects of cognitive science in Tübingen are also important: Psychology and Computer Science. The Cognitive Science course is interdisciplinary and combined with the disciplines of computer science, psychology, biology, linguistics, mathematics, medicine and philosophy. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, the three Max Planck Institutes for Biological Cybernetics, Developmental Biology and Intelligent Systems, the Centre for Neurology, the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research, the Bernstein Centre for Brain Research and the Werner Reichardt Centre for Integrative Neurosciences offer opportunities to learn more about on-site research perspectives.
