Design, planning, construction, operation and maintenance of buildings are among the classic tasks of a civil engineer. In this way, civil engineers shape the environment and make a contribution to the responsible use of resources, through renovation instead of new construction, water protection or low-energy houses.

      WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
The undergraduate Bachelor’s degree course in Civil Engineering offers you a practical and constructively oriented education. You benefit from small learning groups, personal contact with the teaching staff and state-of-the-art laboratories. With exciting excursions, laboratory experiments and an intensive 18-week full-time practical semester, you will gain valuable insights into professional practice.

Civil engineers work in many very different areas. This means that you will learn to plan and calculate structures, you will test various building materials in the laboratory and you will be involved in construction scheduling and the calculation of construction work.

Graduates are proficient in the planning of structures for industrial and building construction using the established materials of concrete, steel and wood and are also able to integrate innovative building materials and construction methods into the planning process. In-depth knowledge in the field of facility maintenance and energy-efficient construction
qualify students to deal with the increasing demands on the sustainability of buildings.
The Bachelor of Science academic degree enables a first qualified career entry. Further qualification with a Master’s degree course is optional. The
interdisciplinary training at HRW offers the opportunity to successfully gain a foothold in new professional areas in the field of classic Civil Engineering.
