Annotation of the Higher Education Institution
The aim of the interdisciplinary master's degree is to enable students to understand, relate and shape socio-ecological problem constellations and processes of social change. Students develop an in-depth understanding of relevant scientific theories and findings from different disciplines, and different spaces are opened for creative thinking, research-based learning and transformative action. Upon completion of their studies, students will possess sound scientific and practice-relevant knowledge of change for a societal transformation towards sustainability.
Our students can expect an optimum learning atmosphere through small study groups, personal contact with the teaching staff, innovative examination formate and individual counselling.
After graduating, students can choose to pursue either a practical or an academic career. Europa-Universität Flensburg is networked throughout Europe. The Education area integrates the study of extracurricular socialization process into research on schools and education through childhood and youth studies.
The Europe area brings together different perspectives and methods from the social sciences and humanities to investigate the multi-layered processes of European (dis)integration.
The Transformation/Sustainability area explores interdisciplinary relationships in the natural, technical, and social sciences and the humanities.

The university offers international semester schedules, as well as English and multilingual degree programs. Teacher education students are particularly encouraged to go abroad during their studies; other degree courses offer trinational degrees and explicitly include study or internship stays abroad.
Virtual mobility should be facilitated in the future, for example by assigning credits for participation in digital formats offered by partner universities. EUF maintains a strong international network. It collaborates with eight other universities across Europe in the EMERGE project and with the Danish Syddansk Universities. Interconnecting students and lecturers across Europe and beyond, as well as strengthening exchange—these are always in focus.
