    • Target group The course is aimed at graduates of Applied Social Science, Psychology, Educational Science, Education and Law who wish to qualify in the educational, psychological and legal areas of work with children and young people under significant strain, as well as their families.

    • Annotation of the Higher Education Institution At present, the degree course only starts in the winter semester; for information about the planned start of the course, refer to the website of Faculty 11 at Munich University of Applied Sciences. Next scheduled launch: winter semester 2024/25.

      The Master's degree qualifies you to start training as a psychotherapist for children and adolescents if a Bachelor's in Education (Educational Science) or Social Education/Social Work has been completed.

    • 1. Proof of completed academic degree (at minimum 6 semesters of theoretical study/180 ECTS) in Social Work or a related degree course (e.g. Upbringing and Management of Social Innovations) or a related subject area (e.g. Educational Sciences, Pedagogy, Psychology) obtained from a German university with an overall grade of 2.5 or higher, or an equivalent qualification.

      Or:

      2. Proof of successful completion of the First Staatsexamen in Law (or comparable examination).

      3. Proof of either a 22-week work placement as part of university studies or relevant professional experience of at least 22 weeks with no more than two employers following the academic degree or relevant work at the time of commencement of studies.

      4. For international applicants: Proof of good command of German (DSH-2 or TestDaF-3).

      Minimum requirements for first university degree:
      • Minimum grade: 2.50
      • Minimum number of semesters: 6 semesters
      • Minimum standard period of study: 6 semesters

      For this degree programme, you should have gained your first university qualification in one of the following subjects groups or areas of study:
      • Subject group: Humanities and Social Sciences
      • Area of study: Counselling, Pedagogy, Educational Sciences, Psychology, Social Sciences, Social Work, Curative Pedagogy
    • Required language skills
    • Required minimum language skills that must be proven by passing one or more of the following language tests:
      • DSH (Deutsch): 2
      • TestDaF (Deutsch): 3
    • Required practical experience In addition to completing your first university degree, you need the following practical experience to be admitted onto this degree programme:
      • 22 weeks Internship in the field of Soziale Arbeit
      • 22 weeks Work experience in the field of Social Work
