    • Annotation of the Higher Education Institution The fields of activity of product designers are as diverse as the world of things we live with. Products are created by craftsmanship, serial industry and, through the digitalisation of design, planning and production processes, increasingly also in mixed forms of these processes. The four professors of the Product Design degree course do not represent any subject areas in the traditional sense. They formulate and supervise projects, the focus of which can be industry-related or artisanal product design, interaction design, design and management, mobility, product and environment, scenic design or exhibition design.

    Architecture and Urban Studies, Civil Engineering, Art and Design, and Media: the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has a clear profile. In the sciences and arts, work at the university centres on concept development, construction, and design of contemporary and future living spaces - all with analytical, creative and innovative drive. The spectrum of the four faculties is grounded in a combination of scientific, technical and creative-artistic work. As a link to the roots of the historical Bauhaus school under Walter Gropius, the »Bauhaus« in the university's name stands for experimentation, openness, creativity and internationalism.

    The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s broad spectrum encompasses around 40 degree programmes and courses of study, ranging from fine art to design, visual communication, media design, media science, media informatics, architecture, civil engineering, engineering and the environment, and management. In every scientific or academic field, as in artistic development, practical relevance plays a vital role. Project-oriented work encourages personal development and in combination with excellent research and coursework ensures outstanding future prospects.

    Research at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is diverse, international and interdisciplinary. In addition to the research concentrations "Digital Engineering" and "Cultural Scientific Media Research" there are other fields of research, such as "City, Architecture and Environment," "Material and Construction" and "Art.Design.Science." In every branch of research, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar supports young scholars in a variety of ways. Structured doctoral programmes offer intensive advising, while teamwork, the curriculum and practical relevance set the conditions for successful completion of a Ph.D.
