  • Areas of Concentration It provides students with the opportunity of specialising in the areas of Gender Studies and Media Studies.

    • Target group Graduates of a professionally qualifying certificate of academic degree with a minimum grade of at least 2.7 in the areas of American Studies, British Studies or Anglophone Studies or a certificate of academic degree acquired at a university or equivalent in the Federal Republic of Germany or abroad and recognised as equivalent to a literary-culturally oriented degree course.

    • Annotation of the Higher Education Institution General information:
      The Master’s degree course "North American Studies", which is taught in English, explores the complex literatures and cultures of North America, above all the USA and Canada, but also the Caribbean and Latin America, and provides interdisciplinary teaching and research.

      Central aspects of investigation include the multi-faceted interculturality of the respective countries which is analysed using newly developed methods and disciplines as well as extending across borders and borders. In addition to literature, you will gain insights into cultural phenomena such as TV series, films, visual representations and music, but also political and historical developments.

      Research focuses:
