The degree course is more research oriented. Students can, however, emphasise the application-related aspects by setting individual focal points. The in-depth study in a minor subject guarantees that the use of mathematical methods is also reflected in an interdisciplinary context.

      Research focuses:
The in-depth lectures, seminars or internships are usually completed in the fields of work represented in the department.

      These include

      - Algebraic Lie-Theory,
      - Algebraic and complex geometry,
      - Differential geometry and analysis,
      - Discrete Mathematics,
      - Numerical Mathematics and Optimisation and
      - Stochastics.

There is a wide range of subjects to choose from for a minor subject. The most frequently chosen subjects are: Business administration, biology, geography, computer science, physics, economics.
