The minor subject in Hittite Studies offers you a sound education in the field of ancient Anatolian languages and textual testimonies from the Middle and Late Bronze Age. The core area is Hittite, the most extensively attested ancient Anatolian language. In addition, the acquisition of further Anatolian and ancient Oriental languages is possible. This provides you with comprehensive knowledge from the entire spectrum of the languages of ancient Anatolia in the 2nd and 1st millennia before Christ and important neighbouring languages.

Above all, the minor subject can therefore be used to sensibly supplement a major subject in Historical Comparative Linguistics or Ancient Oriental Studies, but also in Pre- and Early History, Archaeology and History.

An integral part of the degree course is the MarSkills programme, in which you acquire attractive and future-oriented key skills (see www.uni-marburg.de/marskills).
