    • Annotation of the Higher Education Institution Against the backdrop of today’s pressing environmental problems such as the loss of biodiversity, global warming, pollution and exotic invasive organisms, scientific research and the solution of environmental problems have steadily gained in importance. Environmental Sciences students contribute to researching biological, ecological, chemical and physical fundamentals that are relevant to the sustainable management of the relationship between humans and nature.
To apply these findings effectively in practice, however, they must also be incorporated into relevant laws, regulations and guidelines. This requires both environmental and legal knowledge.
The University of Bielefeld offers the special degree course Environmental Sciences in its subject combination. It provides a solid basis in environmental biology, but also provides insights into environmental chemistry, environmental physics and, in particular, environmental law.

After successful completion of the Bachelor’s degree course, graduates can either immediately start a career or deepen and further their university education.
The professional opportunities for trained environmental scientists are diverse depending on individual interests.
      Possible employers include
      • Research institutions (universities, higher education institutions, federal institutions),
      • Nature and environmental protection institutions,
